Kika Nicolela's new work was developed during an artistic residency in the village of Calce (France), known for its production of natural wines. Nicolela met local residents who were choosing landscapes - the places most important to them for a personal reason - to share with the artist. The resulting video merges the images of the participants with the chosen places, erasing parts of their bodies and parts of the elements of the landscapes, in a play of transparencies and opacities. Their voices and their bodies become an integral part of these landscapes. The work plunges us into a reflection on the relationship and connection between human beings and nature, between landscape and time, between place and memory.
